    Abstract:
Previously developed theoretical methods are used to study flutter of flat plates under transverse and in-plane loads; conclusions are -- qualitative and quantitative features of flutter may be significantly changed as Mach number approaches one, reasonable agreement may be obtained between theory and experiment if in-plane support flexibility is accounted for, and anomalous flow flutter dynamic pressures are associated with small amplitude flutter motion, discussion of effect of these results on design is also given.
