For shear layers of slowly varying thickness it is shown that it is sufficient to replace the constant boundary-layer thickness used in the kernel function by Ventres (1975) in the analysis of lifting surfaces, by the varying thickness. (This kernel function relates pressure on the lifting surface to the normal velocity on its surface). The results of the approach compare favourably in terms of accuracy and calculation length with the results of previous approaches
