    Abstract:
A good understanding of system dynamics is imperative to the design of any control strategy. Results of inaccurate models can lead to inefficient controls. However, the formulation of an accurate dynamic model requires high computational power and hence various simplifying assumptions are made while deriving the system equations. In order to illustrate this concept, a simple dynamic experiment of a double-pendulum is formulated and the responses obtained from the derived model and the actual model were compared. Inaccuracies of the derived model clearly showed up in the comparison. By taking into account factors, which were initially omitted for simplifying calculation, the inaccuracies observed could be minimized.
