Analog simulation and analytically obtained design results are compared for nonlinear systems with a view to predict the degree of conservatism in stability criteria. Several types of nonlinearities located in identical sectors are used. An application of the describing function techniques provides yet another basis for this comparison. In addition design results are substantiated by considering the system response represented in the logarithmic gain phase versus frequency plane onto which the associated Popov line is transferred.
