This committee identifies outstanding minority students who are interested in becoming future teachers. The committee supports the students in developing their application and throughout the fellowship process. - Holton Prize Committee, Chair, 2003- present

Education. PIE Faculty members evaluate
submitted student papers and award a yearly prize
for the best undergraduate research paper on an
education topic.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Duke Durham Neighborhood Partnership Afterschool Programs, 2002-2009
The Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership Afterschool Tutoring Program works with five after-school programs located in the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership. Duke student tutors provide academic and social support to at-risk students who attend the community-based after-school programs. Duke University resources from staff, faculty and multiple department are also
provided to the community centers and
coordinated by the DDNP tutoring project staff. - Project CHILD, Faculty sponsor, January, 2007-December, 2007
Project CHILD is a freshman orientation tutoring program that is designed to introduce Duke freshman to the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership. Duke freshman provide tutoring and mentoring services to DDNP schools and after-school programs. - 21st Century Learning Center Administrator, 2003-present
In collaboration with Historically Minority
Colleges and Universities Consortium, funding
was received to develop an after-school program
at Northside Baptist Church in the Walltown
neighborhood. As administrator of this program,
its focus is to primarily serve Durham students
who have not passed their End of Grade tests.
