Using the discussion of self-reflexivity as an organizing principle, I argue that mobilizing digital video technology in “the field” (i) opens up empirical and theoretical space for re- conceptualizing the relationship between anthropologists and informants, (ii) demonstrates the flexibility of nativity as an anthropological designation, and (iii) provides tools for examining film’s production process as a mechanism for constructing filmmakers along with film subjects.
