(last updated on 2023/09/23)Abstract:
The essay looks at Luciano Bianciardi's most autobiographical novels, written between 1957 and 1962, as symptoms of the transformation of cultural work in the years of Italy's economic miracle. By focusing on Bianciardi's own tropes of travel and translation, the essay asks questions about the nature of cultural labour: What does culture produce, and for what or whom?. © 2010 Maney Publishing.
