W. Andrew Rothenberg

Research Scientist

W. Andrew "Drew" Rothenberg joined the Center for Child and Family Policy as a postdoctoral associate in September 2018 and now works as a research scientist at the Center. His research is focused on the development of adaptive and maladaptive parenting practices and family processes across ontogeny, culture and generations. Utilizing a developmental psychopathology framework, he examines how parenting practices, family dynamics, and evidence-based mental health interventions affect normal and abnormal child development. His program of research has three aims. First, he explores how maladaptive family processes can be passed from one generation to the next. Second, he identifies strategies to prevent the intergenerational transmission of these processes in different culture contexts. Third, he implements these preventative interventions in medically underserved communities that need them the most.
