    Abstract:
    The structure and absolute stereochemistry of the new cytotoxic sesquiterpene lactones, tomenphantopin-A and -B, isolated from Elephantopus tomentosus, were determined from spectral data, chemical transformation and single-crystal X-ray analysis. Tomenphantopin-A and -B are two elephantopin-type germacranolides which possess an α-orientation of the oxygen substituent at C-2. © 1987.
