    Abstract:
    A phytochemical investigation into the roots of Bauhinia championii (Leguminosae) has resulted in the isolation and spectral characterization of a new nitrile glucoside, bauhinin ({Z}-6β-{β-D-glucosyloxy}-4β-methoxy-5α-hydroxy-2-cyclohexene-Δ ,α-acetonitrile), the structure of which was confirmed by the results of a single-crystal X-ray analysis of its dihydrate.
