    Abstract:
A method for fabricating combinatorial libraries of polymer scaffolds was proposed for screening cell-biomaterial interactions in a three-dimensional (3D) format. The libraries used were of varying composition of two amorphous, biodegradable, biocompatible, tyrosine-derived polycarbonates, namely, pDTEc [poly(desaminotyrosyl-tyrosine ethyl ester carbonate)] and pDTOc [poly(desaminotyrosyl-tyrosine octyl ester carbonate)]. The fabrication of combinatorial libraries was made in polypropylene 96-well plates using a two-syirnge pump system, yielding arrays of salt-leached, macroporous scaffolds of varying compositions of pDTEc and pDTOc, having different physiochemical properties. The designed libraries were ideal for screening cell response so that scaffold formulations that promote or suppress cellular activity can be identified rapidly.
