Haiyi Chen is a graduate student in the Dance MFA Embodied Interdisciplinary Practice.

Haiyi began her professional career dancing with San Francisco Ballet, Ballet West and National Ballet of China. In 2020, she worked as a ballet teacher and choreographer at Bali Dance Company. As a choreographer, Haiyi focuses on exploring the social and cultural implications behind dance.
Her recent creative projects have centered on giving voice to marginalized groups (including people with disabilities) through body language, with a key focus on investigating the role and value of dance as a medium in promoting inclusion, constructing identity, and advancing social equity.
