Hsiao-Mei Ku

Associate Professor of the Practice of Music and Member of Ciompi Quartet

Hsiao-mei is on the faculty in the Music Department and is a member of the Ciompi String Quartet in residence at Duke University. She has performed extensively with the Ciompi Quartet throughout the United States as well as in France, Germany , Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria, England, Israel, Bolivia, and China. Lonya is a 'cellist with the North Carolina Symphony. He has also toured with many Russian music ensembles in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and South America.

Hsaio-mei and Lonya's youngest child, Amie Shao, is a junior at Princeton University.

Hsiao-mei was born in China and Lonya was born in Russia. She and her husband love meeting people from different backgrounds. They also enjoy the arts, reading, gardening, water-skiing, boating, walking in the woods, camping, and traveling.
