    Abstract:
I defend a naturalistic explanation of moral reasons that does not make them merely hypothetical imperatives but rather capable of entering into the constitution of selfhood and agency. Moral reasons play a crucial role in making cooperation possible by shaping and reinforcing the diverse and potentially conflicting array of human motivations so that they are better suited for cooperative life.
