| Donald E. Stone, Professor Emeritus of Biology (deceased 2011)
Please note: Donald has left the "Duke Herbarium" group at Duke University; some info here might not be up to date. My research over the years has focused on the
taxonomy, biosystematics and evolution of
temperate
and tropical plants, with emphasis on the
walnut
family, Juglandaceae, and select members
of the
monocot order Zingiberales. Morphology/
anatomy,
cytotaxonomy and pollination biology have
been
fundamental to these studies, as has been
the study
of pollen-wall ontogeny employing SEM and
TEM to
assess evolutionary relationships.
