Luis Guirola is a PhD student specializing in political economy and political methods. Luis previously graduated in law and studied European studies and economics at the graduate level at several institutions in Europe and America and he worked for two years for the Spanish governments. He speaks French and Spanish. His substantive interests are the political determinants of economic outcomes and inequality in advanced capitalist countries. He is interested in how the evolution of institutions, demography, geography and technology has altered the structure of conflicts that cut through class confrontation lines -such as those pertaining to intergenerational redistribution, gender, dual labor markets or ethnicity. On the method side, he has developed an enduring interest in formal theory, partial identification, structural estimation and bayesian statistics.
