Jesse Sun,

Jesse Sun

Please note: Jesse has left the "Religious Studies" group at Duke University; some info here might not be up to date.

I am a Ph.D. candidate in World Christianity in the Graduate Program of Religion at Duke University. My research interests include mission history, Chinese Christianity, church and state relations, and religion and nationalism in modern China. While my current work is primarily historical, I use it in corporation with my former training in social science and theology to examine how non-western Christians interact with multiple identities and forces in cross-cultural settings. My dissertation will analyze the 20th century odyssey of a fresh figure as a window to the passions and struggles arising from the Christian-patriotic synthesis of progressive Chinese Christian intellectuals.
