Research Interests for Jaybird O'berski

Research Interests:

Jay O’Berski (M.F.A., Carnegie Mellon University/Moscow Art Theatre School) is an assistant professor at Duke University where he teaches acting, movement, improv and special topics like Black Theatre Workshop and Acting Shakespeare. Jay is artistic director of The Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern and an associate artistic director of Manbites Dog Theater. His work has been seen in New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Moscow (Russi), San Miguel Allende (Mexico and Port-au-Prince (Haiti). Recent directing credits include A STEADY RAIN, THE LOWER D'S, MISTERIOSO (Duke); GLASS, NIGHT OF THE BEAST, WESTERN MEN, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, EUROPE CENTRAL, FISTFUL OF LOVE, and GOIN' A BUFFALO (Little Green Pig); THE OVERWHELMING, THE MAN WHO, SHOPPING & FUCKING, THE SHAPE OF THINGS, BACK OF THE THROAT (Manbites Dog); BOSTON MARRIAGE (Ghost & Spice). Acting credits include ANARCHIST!, JANE EYRE, THE ITALIAN ACTRESS (Little Green Pig); BUDDY COP 2, THOM PAIN, DYING CITY, AGE OF AROUSAL, THE PILLOW MAN (Manbites Dog); SUPERIOR DONUTS, ENDGAME (Deep Dish Theatre).

Current projects:
Writing MIDDLETON & ROWLEY: THE CHANGELING for Palgrave Macmillan (pub. 2012).
Writing a play about Scientology called THETAN 7.
Directing GLASS, an adaptation of Williams' GLASS MENAGERIE (Little Green Pig).
Acting Pinter's THE BIRTHDAY PARTY and portraying Donald Rumsfeld in DONALD (Little Green Pig).
