Emily Dubie, Graduate Assistant of Religious Studies and Graduate Program in Religion

Emily Dubie

Please note: Emily has left the "Graduate Program in Religion" group at Duke University; some info here might not be up to date.

Emily Dubie is a Ph.D. candidate in the Graduate Program in Religion.  Her areas of research include Christian ethics, systematic and political theologies, spirituality, and religious theory and method.  Her dissertation, entitled "'Loving Your Neighbor Professionally': Theology, Social Work, and the Limits of Moral Agency" examines the moral contours of care within bureaucratic settings.  Employing qualitative methods, the project considers how Christian social workers deliberate about the limits of human agency as they distribute social services across asymmetries of power.  She most recently instructed REL238 "Activism & Christianity in Modern America" at Duke University.  She is currently a Dissertation Fellow with the Louisville Institute.

She holds a M.T.S in Moral Theology / Christian Ethics from the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. in International Relations from Saint Anselm College.
