Alyssa Kuchinski,

Alyssa Kuchinski

I am a fifth year PhD Candidate with a primary focus on 20th century U.S. labor and economic history. I am working on a dissertation tentatively titled, "Economic Development at What Cost? The Fantus Company, Financial Subsidies, and Working-Class Communities, 1919-1999." My work is supported by my primary advisor Nancy MacLean and committee members Erik Gellman (UNC), Cecilia Marquez, and Ed Balleisen.

In addition to my own scholarship, I am pursuing a Certificate in College Teaching offered by The Graduate School.

I graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in History and Government and a minor in Theology. My undergraduate history thesis was on the SEIU's Justice for Janitors campaign, entitled Cleaning Up the Service Sector: The Justice for Janitors Campaigns in Washington, DC, and Atlanta, GA. Originally from a small town in Northeast Ohio, I am proud to be a first-generation undergraduate and graduate student and am happy to help any student struggling to find their footing within an academic space.
