Current projects: (Dissertation, tentative title.) "Gilded Proprietors and Propertied Patriarchs: Property as Power in, Post-Emancipation Richmond"

I use local court records to examine the changes in property as power and social order before and after the US Civil War. I focus on Richmond, Virginia, and the thriving African American community before and after emancipation.
