Biographical Info of Oded Zinger

Dr. Zinger comes to the Duke Center for Jewish Studies after receiving his PhD from the Near Eastern Studies Department at Princeton University. His research focuses on the social and cultural history of Jewish communities in the medieval Islamic world. His dissertation, “Women, Gender and Law: Marital Disputes according to Documents from the Cairo Geniza,” explores the dynamics of married life of Jewish couples while offering a view ʻfrom belowʼ on Jewish communal life in the medieval Islamic world. He received his BA in History from Princeton University (Summa cum Laude) in 2007 and spent several of the years since in his native Jerusalem.
