Michael J Jenista, Graduate Student

I work in dynamical systems, mainly from a topological viewpoint. I am researching biological oscillators and networks with John Harer.

Please note: Michael has left the Mathematics department at Duke University; some info here might not be up to date.

Starting Year:   2005
Advisor(s):   John Harer

Education:

MSDuke2007
Specialties:

Topology
Applied Math
Research Interests: dynamical systems, networks, Morse theory, Conley index

Current projects: biological oscillators, transcription networks

I am currently working on the application of the Conley Index to biological dynamics. The Conley Index is a generalization of Morse Theory, and lends itself to computer work. I am employing software developed by Konstantin Mischaikow, Pawel Pilarczyk, Marian Mrozek, and others to study dynamical changes in coupled oscillator networks over various parameter ranges.

Areas of Interest:

dynamical systems
dynamics
morse theory
conley index
networks

Keywords:

dynamical systems • dynamics • morse theory • conley index • networks
