Abstract: © 2015 IEEE. This paper introduces a new ESPRITbased algorithm to estimate the directionofarrival of an arbitrary degree polynomialphase signal with a single acoustic vectorsensor. The proposed timeinvariant ESPRIT algorithm is based on a matrixpencil pair derived from the timedelayed datasets collected by a single acoustic vectorsensor. This approach requires neither a prior knowledge of the polynomialphase signal's coefficients nor a prior knowledge of the polynomialphase signal's frequencyspectrum. Furthermore, a preprocessing technique is proposed to incorporate the singleforgettingfactor algorithm and multipleforgettingfactor adaptive tracking algorithm to track a polynomialphase signal using one acoustic vector sensor. Simulation results verify the efficacy of the proposed direction finding and source tracking algorithms.
