   Abstract:
   We extend the Chern classes of automorphic vector bundles on Hermitian locally symmetric spaces over the Baily-Borel-Satake (BBS) compactification in a canonical way. We find the relation of our classes to the MacPherson classes and obtain new information about the cohomology of the BBS compactification.
