Bio/Profile
Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Southern California, 1996. Areas of interest are sociolinguistics, minority languages and bilingualism. She is interested in second language acquisition, and the acquisition of narrative discourse strategies by bilingual children. Within the area of applied linguistics, she is interested in the study of development of discourse strategies in the L2 classroom. Publications include The Use of the Past Tense in the Narratives of Bilingual Children: The Acquisition of Aspectual Distinctions, Spanish in the U.S., Ana Roca; Editor, (2000).
