Editorials and Commentaries
Abstract:
Guest editorial. Conclusions: Daily work in long-term care is filled with both technical and adaptive challenges, and there is no additional time in the day for most of us to add new tasks. However, our research suggests that if we change the way we approach our work so that we use adaptive leadership behaviors more purposefully, we may have the capacity to improve care without adding additional time or resources. Although medical providers are accustomed to using their expertise to handle technical challenges, it is important that we also recognize the more difficult and complex adaptive challenges so that we can match appropriate strategies to manage complex geriatric syndromes and effect culture change and quality improvement.
