   Abstract:
   Cancellous bone specimens from the human vertebral body were tested in compression. The specimens were unembalmed and the tests were generally performed not less than five days postmortem. During this period the specimens were kept wet with a calcium buffered solution of isotonic saline. Regression analyses indicate a strong dependence of ultimate compressive strength and modulus of elasticity on age and density
