(last updated on 2007/04/14)Abstract:
A data stream formatter for a 128 channel mapping system was constructed which combined real time variables and digitized waveforms into information packets. The variables are formatted by a microprocessor once per millisecond creating, with the digitized waveforms, a total throughput of 264 kilobytes per second. Included with each millisecond of waveform data are four types of information: acquisition parameters, amplifier gain, short term user variables, and external events. Synchronization of the header word generation with the analog sampling is done using control store to interrupt the microprocessor and control the data acquisition timing. Having all the information required to analyze waveforms and synchronize to external events recorded with the digitized waveforms simplifies data storage and subsequent data analysisKeywords:
