Abstract: This paper summarizes how a traditionally trained clinical psychologist transformed himself, with no small difficulty, into a research‐oriented community psychologist and a faculty member of a multidisciplinary department within a school of public health. Further, the author discusses what he calls a two‐way relationship between epidemiology and community psychology and proposes a core curriculum for research training in community psychology at the graduate level.
