   Abstract:
   Twenty-four records of payments to Gerard David recently discovered in the archives of the hospital Onze-Lieoe-Vrouw ter Potterie at Bruges now make up more than one-third of all known documents on the painter’s life. This study focuses on the significance of these payments for an understanding of David’s finances, workshop, and possible travel to Italy. © 1987, College Art Association of America, Inc.
