Adam Present,

Adam Present

Adam Marshall Present is a nonfiction filmmaker whose work meditates on the intersection of climate and environmental issues with stories of community and anthropology. His feature debut, American Dendrite (2025), a road trip experimental documentary shot entirely on Super 8mm film, has screened across the United States including at the Chicago Underground Film Festival, Lighthouse International Film Festival, Green Film Festival of San Francisco, and won the Audience Choice Award at YoFiFest Film Festival. Originally from New Jersey, he obtained his B.A. from Northwestern University’s Radio/TV/Film program. Adam has worked in the editorial department at New York City-based nonfiction studio Words + Pictures and has collaborated with the Independent Film Alliance in Chicago to create programming for local university film students. At Duke, Adam hopes to explore multichannel and installation work and incorporate new modes of image-making into his practice.
