| Lei He,![]() Born in 1994, Lei He grew up along the banks of the Yellow River in China, a region that shaped her acute awareness of social realities and the lives of marginalized communities. From a young age, she aspired to become an investigative journalist, driven by a desire to uncover hidden truths and give voice to the unheard. With a background in journalism and eight years of experience in documentary filmmaking, she has developed a sharp sensitivity to the complexity of real-life experiences and a deep attentiveness to the inner strength, struggle, and dignity of individual lives. She has documented deep-sea fishermen, coal miners, and generations of women resisting domestic violence. She is exploring the boundaries of nonfiction storytelling, blending observational methods with visual experimentation—such as symbolic imagery, dance, and hybrid forms—to amplify emotional depth and social critique.
