- The Assassination of Jean Zay. Under review with two French publishers: Editions verticales, Editions complexe, 2004.
Abstract:
This book (438 pages) reconstructs the
imprisonment of Jean
Zay (former minister of French Education
1936-39, arrested
by Vichy for trumped up charges and official
categorized as
Jewish, although Protestant) and the daily
visits of his
wife and two small daughters. The book uses
unpublished
diaries which have never been seen before.
In addition,
the historical reconstruction (1940-44)
alternates with the
relationship of the researcher and Zay's
family, including
the trauma of remembering, or at times, the
inability to
remember, that is the silences of memory.
