Julian Alvarez is a third-year doctoral student researching 20th and 21st century Brazilian history. His research interests sit at the intersection of political history, environmental history, and economic history. In particular, he is interested in soybean agribusiness and the transformation of Brazil's cerrado (tropical savanna) from the 1970s through the present.
