Katlin Risen,

Katlin Risen is a second-year student pursuing her PhD in the History Department. She is a first-generation student who graduated magna cum laude from the University of Colorado Boulder with a BA in History, an English minor, and a Space minor. Her undergraduate thesis, titled “We appreciate your interest”: Women in Soviet Union and American Space Race Propaganda, focused on the ways in which women were portrayed in and influenced by Soviet and American visual propaganda of the 1955-1975 Space Race. Her current research interests include 20th century American history with a focus on women's history, children's history consumer culture, and the Space Race.
