Abstract:
Asthma is the most common chronic disease affecting young children and may co-occur with other disabilities. The increasing morbidity and mortality due to asthma have prompted the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health to develop a National Asthma Education Program to raise awareness of recent advances in the understanding and treatment of asthma. The purpose of this article is to highlight the most relevant portions of this program for early intervention professionals.
