  • Brief Bio

    Dr. Alison Edie is Lead Faculty for the Family Nurse Practitioner major in the MSN Program. She is also a Family Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in the primary care of underserved populations. She earned her BSN from the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing in 1984 and her MSN from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in 1991. She completed her DNP at Georgia Southern University School of Nursing in May 2012.

    Her clinical practice is in the Durham County Health Department Women’s Health Clinic, Dr. Edie is active in community organizations providing support to homeless families, and currently serves on the board of Genesis Home. She is a board member and delegate of Beta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) and currently serves as co-chair of the Sexual and Reproductive Health Special Interest Group of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties. Dr. Edie is also a 2014-2015 STTI Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy Scholar.

    Dr. Edie’s research interests are in understanding the issues and concerns of vulnerable populations with a focus on self-efficacy and health promotion practices of women and adolescents.
