Abstract: A maximum estimation procedure has been applied to the joint identification of the parameters of the aquifer transmissivity random field and the parameters of the linear regression between the logarithm of the transmissivity and the logarithm of the electrical transverse formation factor. The procedure is tested on a real field scenario - fractured aquifer impacted by landfill leachate examination. Results showed that the use of formation factor accounts for possible effects of clay and contaminant concentration on pore-water resistivity. Information provided by Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) helps in understanding aquifer characteristics and vulnerability.
