   Abstract:
   The spatial distribution of VCAM-1 positive during endothelium and intimal macrophages during early hypercholesterolemia are studied. It was hypothesized that VCAM-1 expression is influenced by the combined effect of oxidation of low density lipoprotein in the intima and the local fluid dynamics. Ways in which arterial fluid mechanics may affect VCAM-1 expression are outlined.
