Abstract: In this article, we have examined several phase-space data-processing algorithms, with application to time-domain and frequency-domain plane-wave scattering from truncated periodic and weakly-aperiodic arrays. For the case of frequency-domain scattering the fields are observed as a function of lateral position x for a fixed height z, and the results are presented in the space-wavenumber (x, kx) phase space. For time domain scattering, the scattered fields are observed as a function of time for a fixed observation point (x, z), and results are presented in the time-frequency (t, ω) phase space. We have examined fixed-resolution (Gaussian-windowed transform), multi-resolution (wavelet), and superresolution (ARMA, Prony and matrix-pencil method) algorithms. The results of the Gaussian-windowed transform (GWT) are in excellent agreement with wave phenomenology anticipated form our previous forward modeling.
