    Abstract:
The Microelectronics Center of North Carolina (MCNC) is a private, non-profit corporation whose primary mission is to assist the State of North Carolina in the development of high technology industry through enhancement of the research and educational capabilities of five universities and a contract research institute. MCNC and its participating institutions have entered into a phased program of manufacturing technology research with the Semiconductor Research Corporation. This new thrust program is in the area of low temperature processing of devices and the accompanying technology and device problems associated with this trend. In order to mold a coherent program, the final goal or research vehicle will be a one micrometer CMOS technology based on low temperature processing. This process will be designed around an integrated circuit chip that will be specified during the first phase of work
