Abstract: Electro-optical data compression was demonstrated using the acousto-optic modulator (AOM) based ultrafast pulse shaping techniques. The comparison of electronic data packet into an optical data packet with effective data rate was demonstrated. The AOM-based pulse shaping compressed a 14-bit data frame of slower electronic signal into one single 20 picosecond time slot of the optical channel. The high ratio data compression technique enabled electronic end-user to share the optical channel directly.
