Abstract: There has been a systematic discrepancy between experimental values of the L2-L3X Coster-Kronig transition probability f23, and theoretical predictions; this suggests a systematic error in the K-L X-ray coincidence technique employed. A proposed correction due to the presence of the Lη line in the Lα X-ray doublet is considered. This set of eight different, though not completely independent, variations of the K-L X-ray coincidence technique yielded a weighted average value of f23=0.153±0.002 at Z=73. This is in excellent agreement with previous experimental values but differs significantly from theoretical calculations
