    Abstract:
The author examined the fracture strength of human gallstones and the effect of cholesterol content on this fracture strength. They found that, although the fracture strength of gallstones is lower than that for most renal calculi, there appears to be enough overlap that the same lithotripters may be used to treat both kidney stones and gallstones. There does not appear to be any apparent correlation between cholesterol content and fracture strength
