Abstract: Post-freeze etching of physiological materials by vacuum dessication or sublimation can be carried out in the microscope cold stage described. Temperatures down to -60°C, with controlled cooling rates of between 1-7°C/min, are possible. The instrument has been used to make observations on the NaCl-H2O (3%-97%) binary system
