  1. Everett, Jess and Peirce, J. Jeffrey, BOUND GLASS IN SHREDDED MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE., Journal of Energy Engineering, vol. 111 no. 1 (1985), pp. 91 - 94

    Abstract:
Glass contaminated waste-to-energy fuel causes excessive slagging on incinerator walls and abrasion of mechanical parts. Municipal solid waste is generally shredded before introduction to the air classifier. Shredding creates a loose structure, or formation, of paper and other similar wastes into which glass can become bound or trapped; for the purpose of this paper, such glass is referred to as bound glass. This paper focuses on bound glass content and size distribution at different moisture contents. The results provide initial insights into these critical air classifier particle/moisture interactions.
