    Abstract:
    H. Wang and M. Kaveh's (1985) wideband coherent signal-subspace technique is shown to have a straightforward correlation domain interpretation, with their simplified, so-called focused covariance matrix being a slice through the generalized correlation matrix. Such a matrix is known as a steered covariance matrix (STCM), and it is demonstrated that it is possible to form a high-resolution map using a limited number of STCMs, with attendant computational advantage.
