Dissertation Title:

Aaron Dowdy is a third-year PhD student in the Program in Literature at Duke University. He specializes in aesthetic theory with particular focus on its relation to cinema, visuality, and the visibility of history within the Marxist tradition. His current research project focuses on the aesthetics and politics of incompletion, turning to sites of 'cinematization' in the twentieth century with an emphasis on the philosophical and historical import of unmade, unfinished, and non-extant films.
