   Abstract:
   Sixteen depressed inpatients who failed to improve significantly following electroconvulsive therapy were interviewed 6 months after hospital admission. No patient became asymptomatic during the follow-up interval; however, up to one quarter were classified as recovered depending on the definition of recovery.
